To be eligible for the award of Master of Materials Science (MMatSc), you must successfully complete 160 credit points as prescribed below:

  • Standard pathway:
    • 80 credit points of core courses;
    • 10 credit points for the Research Project;
    AND
    • 40 credit points of WIL courses;
    • 30 credit points of listed electives.
    OR
    • 70 credit points of listed electives.
  • Dissertation pathway:
    • 80 credit points of core courses;
    • 60 credit points for the Dissertation;
    • 20 credit points of listed electives.

Exit points

To be eligible to exit the Masters program with a Graduate Certificate in Science award, you must acquire 40 credit points of courses.

To be eligible to exit the Masters program with a Graduate Diploma of Science award, you must acquire 80 credit points of courses.

To exit, you should apply for a program transfer.

This degree may be awarded with Distinction where a student achieves a minimum program GPA of 6.5 with no failed courses. The words 'This award was achieved with Distinction' will be recorded on the testamur.
