To be eligible for the award of Master of Education (MEd), a student must acquire 120 credit points as prescribed below:

  • Standard pathway:
    • 60 credit points for core courses;
    • 40 credit points for a major;
    • 20 credit points for listed electives and/or approved electives.
  • General Studies pathway:
    • 40 credit points for core courses;
    • 80 credit points for listed electives and/or approved electives.

To be eligible for the award of Master of Education (MEd), a student admitted with 40 credit points of advanced standing must acquire 80 credit points as prescribed below:

  • Standard pathway:
    • 40 credit points for core courses;
    • 40 credit points for a major.
  • General Studies pathway:
    • 40 credit points for core courses;
    • 40 credit points for listed electives and/or approved electives.

This degree/s may be awarded with Distinction where a student achieves a minimum program GPA of 6.5 with no failed courses. The words 'This award was achieved with Distinction' will be recorded on the testamur and will appear below the conferral date of the award.

Exit point

To be eligible to exit the Masters program with the Graduate Certificate in Education Studies award, a student must acquire 40 credit points of courses.

To exit, a student should apply for a program transfer.

Note: The Graduate Certificate exit point is not available to students admitted to the Masters program with advanced standing.
