To be eligible for the award of Master of Finance (MFin), a student must acquire 160 credit points as prescribed below:

  • gain 60 credit points for foundation courses;
  • gain 80 credit points for core courses;
  • gain 20 credit points for listed electives.

To be eligible for the award of Master of Finance (MFin), a student admitted with advanced standing must acquire 120 credit points as prescribed below:

  • gain 80 credit points for core courses;
  • gain 40 credit points for listed elective or dissertation courses.

This degree/s may be awarded with Distinction where a student achieves a minimum program GPA of 6.5 with no failed courses. The words 'This award was achieved with Distinction' will be recorded on the testamur and will appear below the conferral date of the award.

Dissertation courses

Eligibility to undertake the 40 credit point Dissertation will be determined by the Program Director and will be subject to the following criteria:

  • completion of 60 credit points of core courses
  • achievement of a minimum GPA of 5.0 across the core courses
  • the suitability of the proposed dissertation topic and the resources available to support the candidature including availability of appropriate supervision.

Students should advise the Program Director about their intention to enrol in dissertation courses at least one trimester in advance of their expected enrolment.
