To be eligible for the award of Master of Urban and Environmental Planning (MUrbanEnvPlan), a student must acquire 160 credit points as prescribed below:

Advanced standing

To be eligible for the award of Master of Urban and Environmental Planning (MUrbanEnvPlan), a student admitted with 40 credit points of advanced standing must acquire 120 credit points as prescribed below:

  • gain 60 credit points for Planning Studio courses
  • gain 10 credit points for 7161ENV Research Design and Planning
  • gain 50 credit points from the Planning Theme, Geographic Information Systems and Environment courses (see Note 1).

Note 1: Students admitted with advanced standing will have completed 40 credit points of courses and should therefore select their courses so that the courses previously completed and the additional 50 credit points covers the content of the 20 credit points for Planning Theme courses, 10 credit points for the Geographic Information Systems course and 20 credit points for Environment courses. Students should contact the Program Director for any further advice.

This degree may be awarded with Distinction where a student achieves a minimum program GPA of 6.5 with no failed courses. The words 'This award was achieved with Distinction' will be recorded on the testamur.

Exit point

To be eligible for the award of Graduate Certificate in Urban and Environmental Planning (GCertUrbanEnvPlan), a student must acquire 40 credit points as prescribed below:

To exit, a student should apply for a program transfer.

Note: The Graduate Certificate exit point is not available to students admitted to the Masters program with advanced standing.
