The aim and focus of the program is to prepare students for a career in the aviation industry by developing their knowledge and skills in the practical aspects of commercial aircraft operations coupled with appropriate technical qualifications for industry employment. The core knowledge and skills gained through the program provide a platform for lifelong learning in a rapidly changing industry.
Besides achieving the essential basic pilot qualifications for employment in the industry, the additional 'industry ready' focus is on developing the high level flight management and personal skills required for transition to an Airline or General Aviation position.
There are a number of advertised opportunities for cadetships within the industry. The specifics of individual cadetships are different and should be discussed with the Program Director.
The Graduate Diploma of Flight Management is offered off-campus at a contracted flight training provider organisation.
This Graduate Diploma practical program includes nine Flight Practicums offered in three teaching trimesters which allows students to progress through the practical program at an accelerated rate to comply with aviation industry training requirements. Attendance is full-time at the approved flight training provider from the commencement date.
A Leave of Absence is not approved for this program.
Candidates must make themselves available for the practical program when scheduled by Griffith University or the approved service provider. Availability will include all Griffith University trimesters, weekdays, weekends and public holidays. Failure to do so will result in an exit from the Graduate Diploma of Flight Management in compliance with Griffith University policy.
You will be in a position to hold the licences needed to perform the duties of a commercial pilot, as well as a high-level of understanding of the aviation environment. As a graduate, you should be ready for immediate employment as a commercial pilot.
Pilot licences and ratings are issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA)..
