1 year full-time
For Continuing Students Only
This degree will prepare you for a career in the aviation industry. You will improve your knowledge and skills of the practical aspects of commercial aircraft operations, and develop the core skills needed for life-long learning in the rapidly changing aviation environment.
The flight training provided includes training for operations under the Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). Training under the IFR provides you with the background skills and experience required for the single engine and multi-engine command instrument rating. This is important since the majority of commercial operations are conducted under the IFR.
You will receive the quality controlled practical flight training needed to meet the standards of the aviation industry.
We work with several highly regarded airlines, including Qantas and Cathay Pacific, to provide access to cadetships and pathways into the airline industry. The specifics of each cadetship are different and should be discussed with the program convenor.
The Graduate Diploma of Flight Management is offered off-campus at a contracted flight training provider organisation.
This Graduate Diploma practical program includes eight Flight Practicums which allows students to progress through the practical program at an accelerated rate to comply with aviation industry training requirements.
Candidates must make themselves available for the practical program when scheduled by Griffith University or the approved service provider. Availability will include all Griffith University trimesters including trimester 3, weekdays, weekends and public holidays. Failure to do so will result in an exit from the Bachelor of Aviation (Pilot Stream) to the Bachelor of Aviation (Aviation Stream) subject to compliance with Griffith University policy.
You will be in a position to hold the licences needed to perform the duties of a commercial pilot, as well as a high-level of understanding of the aviation environment. As a graduate, you should be ready for immediate employment as a commercial pilot.
Pilot licences and ratings are issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).
Additional costs are around $2000 for flying equipment and potentially up to a further $8000 for additional flight hours.
