Why choose this program?

This program is scheduled to commence in 2020.

At a national and international level, the water industry faces many complex challenges. The Graduate Certificate of Water Leadership is designed to help emerging water leaders build the skills, knowledge and confidence to tackle these challenges globally.

Offered in partnership between Griffith University and the International Water Centre (IWC), this program is contextualised for leaders in the water sector. The program equips you with the skills and confidence you need to succeed in this specialised industry by encompassing relevant leadership models, frameworks and. theories, including how to influence, drive change and advance more sustainable and integrated forms of water management. The program also includes significant practical components, which allows you to apply your new skills on a challenging water leadership project.

The Graduate Certificate has a strong focus on helping you become an effective water leader. During the program you will develop and implement a personalised leadership development plan, and receive one-on-one coaching conducted by the IWC leadership coaches.

This program is offered part-time over two consecutive trimesters and includes two face-to-face intensives. It's designed for water leaders who are working in the water sector, as the learning approach is heavily work-based.

As part of the program, you will learn from industry experts, water leadership coaches and specialist trainers, as well as distinguished executive water leaders, who work as group mentors.

The program commences in trimester one each year and participants are required to be enrolled by mid-November the preceding the year to allow time for a personalised 360° survey to be carried out on their leadership skills and behaviours before the start of T1. This information will be used to develop individual leadership development plans.

Entry into the program is open to students with a related Bachelor degree, or students who have previously completed the IWC Water Leadership program.

Students who previously completed the IWC program and gained a full `Certificate of Excellence' for this program may apply for recognition of prior learning for half the program. They will also be required to complete the leadership development project.
