The Griffith Graduate Infection Control Program is the longest running and most successful tertiary infection prevention and control education program across Australasia. This specialist program prepares graduates for advanced practice in infection prevention and control by addressing local, national, and international trends in the communicable diseases and infection.

Leave of absence: Students may not take a leave of absence in this program without the prior approval of the Program Director. The Program Director will review applications for leave of absence relative to the maximum time available to complete the program, professional registration requirements and employment requirements (if applicable).
Students undertake a field placement in Infection Prevention and Control within this program.
Graduates are work ready for the specialist area of infection prevention and control in a range of settings including hospitals, community health, public health, government departments, private consultancies and the wider industry.
The Graduate Certificate in Infection Prevention and Control is recognised by the Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control as a core component of recognition as an Advanced Credentialled Infection Control Professional (CICP-A). The Advanced CICP demonstrates the knowledge, attributes and behaviours in infection control at an advanced level. In practice settings they have leadership responsibility for one or more elements of an infection control program, and work closely with Expert Credentialled Infection Control Professionals to provide guidance and oversight in co-ordinating an entire program. Graduates with accreditation as an Advanced Credentialled Infection Control Professional are professional role models for Primary Infection Control Professionals in accordance with relevant guidelines and the best available evidence. They collaborate with Expert Credentialled Infection Control Professionals in applying core principles to new, unfamiliar or challenging circumstances.
The Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control (ACIPC) recognises graduates of this award.
Graduates from the Graduate Certificate in Infection Prevention and Control may apply for entry to the Master of Infection Prevention and Control (5600).
The indicative annual tuition fee is calculated based on a standard full-time study load which is usually 80 credit points.
