To be eligible for the award of the Bachelor of Communication (BComn), a student must complete 24 units or equivalent as prescribed below:

  • complete four core units at Level 1, one core unit at Level 2 and one core unit at Level 3;
  • complete the recommended units for their chosen majors at Level 1;
  • complete two major sequences of six units each (with at least six units at third year level) from:
    • Business Communication
    • Creative Writing
    • Journalism
    • Public Relations
    • Screen Studies;
  • the remaining elective units for the degree can be made up from a combination of first, second and third year level with a maximum of ten units in the degree at first year level;
  • at least eight units (or one-third of the degree) must be Griffith units studied via Open Universities Australia;

This degree may be awarded with Distinction where a student achieves a minimum program GPA of 6.5 with no failed courses. The words 'This award was achieved with Distinction' will be recorded on the testamur.
