Agile Business Analysis (7812ICT)

Management of traditional IT projects works well under stable conditions, when intended project outcomes are well understood. Yet, under conditions of delivering value to clients early, in innovation projects, or new product development, traditional methods of software development are often too restrictive and inflexible. Agile Business Analysis offers an alternative approach to software development that values flexibility, time-to-market and self-organisation over rigorous planning and processes. It is assumed that students will have an understanding of the discipline and practice of business analysis, including requirements elicitation, analysis, verification, validation, and specification. In this knowledge area, students are introduced to the principles, methods and successful cases of agile business analysis and agile project management. Students learn about and get to experience in a hands-on way techniques such as the application of business analysis using an agile approach, lean management and Agile project management. The knowledge area provides understanding that students can develop should they wish to prepare for advanced certification by industry recognised bodies such as the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA).
