Database Administration (7202ICT)

THIS COURSE HAS BEEN WITHDRAWN AND IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR ENROLMENT (it has been replaced by 7204ICT) This course teaches students how to effectively and efficiently manage the operations of typical commercial Object-Relational Database Management Systems. The course covers system structure, data definition language, data command language, database security and database integrity. Also considered are storage management issues and methods of storage control. Emerging technologies, paradigms and business requirements are also investigated, as to the effect they have on database administration direction. Students will learn through hands-on experience with a commercial database management system. You must have studied Database Design or equivalent course to be able to successfully study this course.
