Advanced Public Writing (7117LHS)

Advanced Public Writing offers a broad understanding of the techniques, modes and impacts of public writing and narrative journalism within contemporary communications industries, and related ethical and conceptual issues. The course assists participants in developing skills as powerful and engaging writers, fluent in persuasive writing techniques, practiced in speech and advocacy writing, informed by an understanding of the theory and practice of public communication, propaganda and citizenship. As part of the Graduate Certificate in Creative and Professional Writing, this course contributes to a professional qualification for those who may wish to work in fields where advanced skills in professional communication are needed, or who may wish to undertake higher degree studies in public relations, writing and journalism. The course will provide a lively and supportive framework through which students have the opportunity to gain deeper knowledge and understanding of the field.
