The Political, Legal and Governance Environment (7023GIR)

This course provides an understanding of the changing contemporary governance institutions and the political and legal context of public policy-making. Students will examine the concept of responsible government and its implications for policy analysis. How is the context of policy making changing and how can we adapt? The new actors, interests and scales of institutions are considered through case studies. This course will also investigate the values and ethics of the policy sciences in a democracy. This course is offered: Online: Trimester 1 Southbank: Trimester 1 Day The Online mode is open to general enrolment and runs for the duration of the Trimester. The SB Intensive mode is restricted and is only available to students who are sponsored into the Graduate Certificate in Policy Analysis program (3210). Students in this program must complete this course (7023GIR), in their first Trimester of study. Non 3210 Program Students who wish to enrol will require prior permission from the Head of School.
