Knowledge Management for Product Innovation (7009IBA)

Rapid advances in technology, the dynamics of the global business environment and increased competition has made the issue of specific knowledge for successful innovation a key strategic issue for organisations in recent years. These changes have given rise to the recognition that innovation and the capacity to generate and transfer knowledge effectively are strong contributors to achieving a sustainable competitive advantage. Whilst an increasing number of organisations have realised the significance of creating value from their innovations, many seem to be drowning in information and starving for specific useful knowledge in this field. In today's global economy, innovation planning must be a critical element of any business strategy, as it allows organisations to leverage and look to the future. Only by focusing on generating and successfully integrating knowledge related to innovation planning, can organisations face and overcome new market challenges and opportunities. This course introduces the knowledge required for innovation as an interdisciplinary concept with a focus on business strategy that will help managers build a new set of values and behaviours necessary for enhancing firm performance.
