Future of Work (7006EHR)

This course explores the future of work in a rapidly globalizing, knowledge and service-intensive economy. Advances in IT and associated technologies are enabling firms to automate and/or outsource routine work, displacing the jobs of low-skilled workers, while enhancing the power of knowledge workers. In parallel, new industries and forms of collaborative and distance-based work are emerging, offering new challenges and opportunities. This course investigates the causes of technological, industrial and organisational change and their potential impacts of work arrangements and stakeholder relationships. Strategies and policies for managing change and coping with the new world of work outlined, drawing on latest research from Australia and other countries.
