Design Research Project (6510QCA_P4)

Design Research Project 6510QCA_P4 is the final of four courses that constitute the major research undertaking in a 60CP Honours research dissertation within the Bachelor of Design Futures. Students completing Design Research Project Part 1, 2, 3 and 4 will be expected to have undertaken and finalised a significant (visual) research project that includes an exegesis. The exegesis must address and unravel the new knowledge or conceptual advancement inherent in the research project. As the second course within the Honours component, students are required to work closely with their lecturer in the development of an original concept or approach and begin to form a question and research method around which their research will revolve. Design Research Project aims to place the student within an environment in which they are introduced to research rigor and autonomous learning. The course will centre on how to conceptualise, plan, establish and market a Design Futures ReDirective Practice Consultancy. It will require an examination of redirective opportunities and the skill sets required to realise them, including organisational and business planning, market analysis, case-study documentation, and self and business presentation (including rhetoric and the establishment of a visual and audio market presence). PLEASE NOTE: This course can only be undertaken by students in their fourth year of study (Honours).
