Manufacturing with Composites (6505ENG)

This course provides an integrated practical exploration of the design and manufacture of fibre reinforced composites. The design element focuses on the application of continuous and short fibre composites. The calculation of laminate stiffness and strength is considered. Composite manufacturing processes, including basic wet layup, spray up, vacuum bagging, RTM, VARTM, and compression moulding are addressed in detail. Assessment is by a written (group) design and manufacture project and a final examination.
