Image Processing and Machine Vision (6302ENG)

Current image processing and machine vision techniques are examined. Imaging hardware, image formats, image enhancement, image compression, image segmentation, visual feature representation and interpretation are discussed in spatial and frequency domains. 3D vision and motion analysis techniques are introduced. Object recognition and pattern analysis techniques are examined along with case studies in real world applications. Students will also gain hands-on experience in the field via a series of practical laboratory sessions, in which the topics covered in the course will be directly applied using both still images and real-time video. Incompatible: 3050MEE Image Process and Machine Vision or 3308ENG Image Process and Machine Vision or 7510ENG Image Processing and Machine Vision. Course only offered in even years.
