Linear Electromagnetics (6301ENG)

This course begins with Maxwell's equations and uses these to let the student explore propagating fields as applied to communication systems and energy applications. Propagation and reflection of EM fields through media and examination of more advanced applications, such as waveguide structures and antennas are covered. More specifically the curricula covers: Maxwell's equations; boundary conditions; plane EM waves; polarisation; plane waves in lossy media; low-loss dielectrics; good conductors; boundary reflections; waveguides, antennas, radar and satellite communications. Laboratories provide for practical verification of a number of these topics. Incompatible: 3307ENG Linear Electromagnetics or 7512ENG Linear Electromagnetics
