Approved Topic (6111ENV)

This course consists of a supervised investigation or study, which allows students input into the selection and definition of the topic of study. It may include an essay, the analysis of experimental data, the construction of a bibliography, the preparation of a review paper and bibliography, or the writing of a scientific paper or report. Under special circumstances, laboratory or field work may be feasible. An Approved Topic enables an individual Honours candidate to study a defined topic or subject which is not covered in the School's courses but which nevertheless falls within the boundaries of the School's stated areas of interest, and its knowledge and expertise. An Approved Topic should not therefore duplicate a currently offered course in any way. An Approved Topic should be unrelated to the dissertation topic and should be supervised by a staff member other than the dissertation supervisors. Incompatible: 6106ENV Approved Topic; 6111AES Approved Topic
