Canadian Criminal Law (5251LAW)

This course will introduce students to substantive aspects of Canadian criminal law. It focuses on the distinctive provisions of the Criminal Code of Canada and their interpretation, as well as the role of the Canadian Charter Rights and Freedoms. The range of excuses, defences and justifications that apply to criminal offences will be canvassed, as will the important central concept of criminal responsibility.
