Community Lawyering Clinic (5238LAW)

This course combines weekly placements at the Gold Coast Community Legal Centre & Advice Bureau Inc (GCCLC) with group seminars. The seminar aspect of the course will provide students with contextual material addressing practical aspects of the law and experiences that they will encounter in their clinical placement. The clinical part of the course will place students at the community legal centre in a small group of students one day per week during trimester. The students will take responsibility for assisting people who approach GCCLC in relation to their general legal matters. Students will be fully supervised by a GCCLC solicitor. Prerequisite: Students must be in their final or penultimate year of their JD or LLB degree program to undertake this course.
