Applied Network Security (3809ICT)

This course provides a broad coverage and detailed discussion of principles and practices of technology and standards, and security protocols for computer networks. It covers topics related to the fundamental concepts needed to understand security in modern networking applications, including cryptography, digital signatures, authentication, access control, trust and privacy. An introduction to a selection of technologies and application areas is given. Current challenges that confront security designers and security administrators, identifying threats, evaluating risks, developing countermeasures are discussed. Security related to wireless networks and cloud, security models and vulnerabilities are also covered. Prerequisite: 1007ICT Computer Systems and Networks OR 1807ICT Computer and Network Architecture.
