Land Degradation and Catchment Management (3441ENV)

This course examines the fundamental principles and processes involved in the management of important land degradation problems in Australia. These problems include wind and water erosion, soil compaction, soil salinity, sodicity and acidity. Catchment hydrology and the principles of integrated catchment management are also examined in this course using 'real world' examples. Development of predictive soil erosion models for their applications for identifying hot-spots in catchments and for the selection of best management practices. Prerequisite: 1044SCG Earth Systems OR 1004ENV Earth Sciences & GIS OR 1051AES Earth Science Incompatible: 3441AES Land Degradation and Catchment Management
