Theory and Practice 2 (3354QCA)

This course explores ways in which theory and studio practice extend and challenge each other. Practice is founded on philosophical and other bases but often the knowledge gained through studio practice is situational, learnt in situ, intuitive (in as much as one automatically knows what to do when), and tacit, as the guiding principles are rarely explicated once the work is finished. This course works to articulate studio processes so that general principles and concepts arising out of studio practice can be later adapted and activated in specific studio settings.
