Electrical Machines and Renewable Generators (3320ENG)

Electrical engineers require a sound understanding of the principles of electric power devices and systems in order to extend the usefulness of electrical technology and to ameliorate the problems of electrical energy. Sustainable electric power systems require that we utilise renewable resources for generating electricity and that we use the energy as efficiently as possible. To achieve these goals, it is important to gain a thorough knowledge of electrical machines and renewable generators. This course covers the fundamental and applied aspects of clean energy systems based on renewable energy resources. You will apply the theory of electromagnetism to electromechanical energy conversion devices and systems. In addition to design, you will learn how to estimate the dynamic parameters of electrical machines and understand the effect those parameters have on the performance of systems incorporating electrical machines.
