Interest Rates, Money and Central Banking (3302AFE)

This course covers topics in modern monetary theory and policy, and related topics concerning macroeconomic policy in general. These topics include money demand and supply, interest rates, saving, investment, exchange rates, the role of the central bank, external imbalances, and fiscal policy. The emphasis throughout is on developing and applying analytical frameworks that improve students' understanding of the impact of monetary and other policy instruments on the economy and business environment. Prerequisites: 2303AFE Economics for Decision Making 2 or 2003IBA Economic Analysis and Policy Co-requisites: 2304AFE Intermediate Macroeconomics Incompatible: 3302AFE Monetary Economics
