Through the study of two literary texts (a novel and a long short story) and the context in which they were written, the course seeks to develop both linguistic and sociocultural competence. It combines the analysis of the texts with a study of key social, cultural and political issues in contemporary Italy which are reflected in them. Grammar points are studied through exploration of examples in the texts, and in response to student demand. The course aims to consolidate students' proficiency at the "B2 Vantage" level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Assessment is through short written compositions, oral exams, and weekly tasks in the form of online quizzes. PREREQUISITES: 2091LHS Italian 2B Spoken AND 2092LHS Italian 2B Written (or equivalent). INCOMPATIBLE: 3294LHS Italian Literature and Society Enhanced.
