Spanish for Professional Purposes (Enhanced) (3087LHS)

This course has adopted the Common European Framework (CEF) of Reference for Languages standards in its teaching to help students to progress towards becoming B2 Spanish independent users. It will focus on the development and use of Spanish for professional purposes, by involving learners in a job searching simulation to increase their knowledge of the Hispanic job market and their ability to use Spanish in professional contexts in a meaningful way. During the course, students will contribute to interactive classroom presentations on issues relevant to the Spanish speaking professional world, and reflect on their performance and impact on their audience. Students will improve their Spanish language skills, and knowledge of Spanish language and Hispanic cultures, in a highly communicative, project-based and content-based language learning environment, that promotes the use a number of learning resources, including native speakers. In addition, they will also develop further as reflective autonomous Spanish users. NOTE: This course will be offered only if a minimum enrolment number is reached. Prerequisites: 2081LHS / 2081LAL Spanish 2A or 2083LHS / 2083LAL Spanish 2A (Enhanced), or any Griffith University advanced Spanish third year course, or a placement interview with the coordinator of the Spanish Studies Major or the convenor of this course.
