A Window into Hispanic Cultures (3086LHS)

This course builds on 2081LHS (formerly 2081LAL) and 2083LHS (formerly 2083LAL). Its objectives are to enhance still further your ability to communicate effectively in Spanish, and to advance your familiarity with and knowledge of Spanish and Hispanic cultures. We use communicative and discursive, text-based approaches to help you to progress towards becoming what the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF) standards identify as a B2 independent user of Spanish. A snap-shot approach to topical issues in the Hispanic world is used to help you to gain a better understanding of Hispanic peoples, their language and their rich cultures. Via its ongoing classroom debates, 3086LHS equips you with relevant argumentative and informal debating skills to enable to participate in the Spanish speaking world in meaningful ways. INCOMPATIBLE: 3090LHS A Window into Hispanic Cultures Enhanced. PREREQUISITES: 2081LHS (formerly 2081LAL) OR 2083LHS (formerly 2083LAL) OR equivalent.
