Contemporary Aboriginal Issues (3053LHS)

This course aims to engage Aboriginal political criticism with contemporary policy frameworks. Students will be exposed to and given opportunities to engage with cultural difference as a valid tool for critique by investigating administrative practices in areas such as health, education, welfare dependency, mutual obligation, self-determination, cultural heritage, criminal justice etc. The course will explore to what extent we examine the intellectual context in which Aboriginal issues are understood. Prior Knowledge: a previous course of study in Aboriginal issues is preferred. Prerequisites: NIL Co-requisites: NIL Incompatible: 3053AMC Methodology & Contemporary Aboriginal Issues; 3053HUM Contemporary Aboriginal Issues; 3053ART Contemporary Aboriginal Issues.
