This is an intermediate level Japanese course designed for students who have successfully completed 3040LHS, Japanese 3A, or have reached an equivalent level of proficiency (e.g. N4 in the Japanese Language Proficiency Test) elsewhere. It develops students' Japanese proficiency across all four skills--listening, speaking, reading and writing, with an increased use of authentic materials and technologies to assist learning and teaching. It also provides students with a deeper understanding of Japanese culture and society. At the completion of the course, students should be able to communicate effectively and more confidently in the language required to satisfy social needs and routine needs pertinent to everyday life. It satisfies prerequisites for 3533LHS Japanese for Professional Purposes and 3534LHS Japanese for Professional Purposes (Enhanced/WIL). PREREQUISITE: 3040LHS Japanese 3A or Japanese Language Proficiency Test N4 and equivalent.
