The primary emphasis of this course is the management of human resources in organisations. A central theme throughout this course is the contribution of Human Resource Management (HRM) to the efficiency and productivity of organisations in the Asia-Pacific region. The course delivery will balance theoretical developments in HRM with practical and strategic considerations of the management of diverse people in the work place and its surrounding environment. This course employs an experiential learning approach to provide undergraduate students with personal and professional development opportunities through access to examples of international practice. This course involves a mandatory two-week long study tour to a partner university in Fiji. On the study tour, students will partake in a pre-arranged schedule of activities. The exact details of each study tour will vary, however the activities will typically include briefing sessions on business practices in Fiji, academic lectures and workshops relating to HRM, industry visits and cultural tours. Prior to departure, the course will typically include a series of briefing sessions about the local country and overview of the schedule. At the end of the study tour students will return to Australia to complete their remaining assessment. Enrolment is by permission only. The course can only be undertaken by students who are Australian citizens and who have not previously received a short-term grant within their degree program. Eligibility to enrol in this course is dependent upon a written application which will be reviewed by the Course Convenor and Program Director. On offer from Trimester 3, 2019.
