NSC Project (3005NSC)

Students will take this course in their final semester of study towards completion of an undergraduate degree in Science, Biomedical Science or Forensic Science. Students in the Bachelor of Medicine Science can undertake this course as an elective course in the summer between Year 1 and Year 2. For students in the Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Forensic Science, the research project must complement the selected major. The research project component enables students to conduct individual research under the supervision of a member of school staff. There is scope for students to carry out their research project external to the university where appropriate. Projects involve substantial experimental or theoretical work for a minimum period of seven weeks. The project component is assessed by a research report, a seminar, and by the conduct of the research. There is a Literature of Science component which is undertaken with a member of staff in the Library. It is optional, at the discretion of the student's supervisor, and provides a basic understanding of the organisation and use of the scientific literature. If the supervisor deems that the student undertake this component, then it must be successfully completed for the award of credit for the course; it is assessed by two problem booklets and an examination. Note: Students MUST APPLY to take this course. Application forms are available from the NSC School Administrative Officer (N34_2.14D). Completed application forms must be submitted to the NSC School Administrative Officer prior to Week 1 of the appropriate trimester. Incompatible: 3005BPS BPS Project
