Industry Project (3002GBS)

The purpose of the course is to provide students with suitable work experience in their chosen field and the opportunity to work and network with industry mentors prior to graduating to enable enhanced graduate employability and career success. There are two types of work integrated learning opportunities that are eligible to be taken through this course. The first is a special project undertaken with an industry partner that may be arranged either by the student or, where available, by Griffith Business School. If arranged by the student, the student must provide specific details of the project scope and parameters for the project to the course convenor, as well as the contact details of the industry supervisor who will mentor the student throughout the course. The special project may be a team or individual project, research or practically based, or an approved purposefully designed flexible work integrated learning opportunity. The project must be aligned with the student's major of study. The second type of work integrated learning relates to the current employment arrangements for students who have been working for a minimum average of sixteen (16) hours per week for at least one year with the same employer. Students may seek permission to undertake a project outside their normal working duties but one which is aligned to their major of study. The proposed project must be approved by the organisation's manager and forwarded to the course convenor on organisation letterhead. This proposal must also be approved by either the WIL Director or course convenor. The primary purpose of both types of work integrated learning opportunities is to facilitate student learning that is aligned to an authentic workplace experience and to raise student awareness of such matters as workplace learning, employability, career pathway development, and self-management. Enrolment into this course is restricted. Students must have first successfully attained 80CP of credit points. The work placement must be approved by the Program Director and assigned academic lead, as well as by the participating industry partner. This course is not available for credit based on prior studies or external activities. Prerequisites: Students must have completed a minimum of 80 Credit Points towards their degree program. Co-requisites: Incompatibles: NIL
