Structures of (in)security (2718LHS)

This course examines the relationship between security and insecurity, highlighting the impact of different ideas, structures, and processes. It explores the social, political, cultural, economic and technological factors that make human lives insecure, and how these can be changed. The course discusses the relationship between security and insecurity at a number of different 'scales' of social interaction, from the global to the local. Students will explore different theories of security and insecurity, and apply these insights to the study of key contemporary issues.
