China Study Tour (2434LHS)

The China Study Tour will expose students to modern Chinese society, culture, and work environments through exploring a variety of themes that intersect past and present China such as: Tradition and Modernity; Rural and Urban Issues; and Religious and Ethnic Diversity. Students will connect with Griffith Alumni and expatriates working in Beijing as part of an Alumni dinner and will visit partner universities where semester exchanges take place. Students will engage in extensive and intensive cultural exploration of both rural and urban contexts including diverse ethnic and religious sites in Beijing, Gansu, Xi'an, and Shanghai. Students will have training and opportunities to develop their Chinese language proficiency and also intercultural competencies throughout the study tour. This study tour will take an interdisciplinary approach and be suitable for students from a range of disciplinary backgrounds including Business, History, Religious studies, Chinese language, International Relations, Politics, and Art making it sustainable long term. Students with no Chinese language proficiency are welcome and will be paired with a Chinese Language major buddy.
