Drawing Studio 1 (2392QCA)

This studio course comprises a thorough interrogative approach to drawing the human body. The course combines practice and theory and considers the use of the body in historical and contemporary drawing. Taking conventionalised forms of Post-War life drawing as its problematic reference point, this course will systematically analyse the methods, biases and potentials of working 'from life' and introduce a contemporary and critical approach to the form. Students are expected to develop and extend drawing skills and concepts, and to initiate speculative drawing strategies. This course will blend retrospective and experimental methods of drawing. Students must have completed 1324QCA Drawing Foundations or an equivalent Introductory Drawing course.
