Inorganic Chemistry (2208ENV)

Inorganic chemistry is an important building block for solid-state chemistry, transition and post-transition metals, organometallic chemistry and bio-organic chemistry. This course provides a general introduction to both theoretical and practical aspects of inorganic chemicals, minerals and synthetic materials that account for the electronic and geometric structure of atoms and molecules. Examples of the relevance of inorganic chemistry to the modern world will be covered including fibre-optic cables, superconductors, semi-conductors, lasers, ceramics and catalysts for energy conversion and storage devices, medicinal and chemical industries.
