Hollywood Cinema (2100LHS)

This course will survey Hollywood cinema from its beginnings through the present, considering Hollywood in terms of its industrial, technological and economic development; its aesthetic priorities and influences; its social and cultural contexts. This second year course offers the opportunity to put Hollywood entertainment in a critical and historical context and lays the groundwork for third year study of Australian cinema. PREREQUISITE: 1009LHS Introduction to Screen Analysis. NOTE: Students without this prerequisite course or prior experience of film analytic terms and concepts should contact the convenor.
