Health and Safety in the Workplace (2006EHR)

This course provides students with a practical and theoretical understanding of health and safety in the workplace. It also aims to provide students with the skills and qualifications needed to work as Health and Safety Professionals (Note: Occupational Health and Safety is currently a Priority Immigration Area with the Australian Government). In the past, the course has been accredited to train students as Accredited Workplace Health and Safety Officers (WHSO). With the abolition of the WHSO position from 31 December 2011 due to the 'federal harmonisation' of H&S law, the staff in 2006EHR have arranged so that both 2006EHR and 3004EHR( (Safety Management Production) are recognised for the purposes of obtaining a nationally recognised qualification, a Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety. While both courses will teach material needed to obtain a Certificate IV in OH&S, those wishing to receive a Certificate IV in OHS will need to complete (a) an additional 3-day course if they only do 2006EHR (b) a 2-day course if they do both 2006EHR and 3004EHR. Costings will be provided during the course but are app. $500, compared to over $2000 if done privately. This course is offered: Gold Coast: Trimester 1 Day (odd years) Night (even years). Nathan: Trimester 1 Night (odd years) Day (even years) Incompatible: 2030IRL AND 2030MGT AND 2203PBH (Health and Safety in the Workplace AND Managing Workplace Health and Safety )
