Introduction to 3D Printing (1607QCA)

This course will introduce students to 3D Printing. Students will learn designing for a target market with an introduction to consumer research, and design niche products for that market that they will then make as prototypes using digital technologies. During this course students will be introduced to the safe working of these machines and how to design and prepare digital files to use them. The design teaching will be project based, for example packaging, point of sale and the students will create a visual image for their designs that they translate into digitally fabricated objects. PREREQUISITE: Students must have completed 1606QCA 3D Digital Modelling for Design or be concurrently enrolled in 1606QCA and 1607QCA.
