Introduction to Art Theory (1261EDN)

This course will build on student's knowledge and understanding of foundational studio practices developed in 1260EDN Studio Foundation. This course will focus on postmodern art from 1960 to the present and will introduce students to semiotic methods of visual analysis and critique. Through studio practice experimentation and application of semiotic art theories, students will develop an understanding of the socio-political, aesthetic and philosophical concerns of contemporary art practice.
