This course involves a guided tour of Japan for approximately one month. Students will experience homestays with Japanese families and extensive travel providing many contrasts from large cities to small villages. They will visit many sites with historical and cultural significance. Students must have an interest in Japan, its people and its language and have completed 1032LHS Japanese Introductory Level 1 or equivalent, such as high school Japanese to Year 10, before joining the tour. The assessment will be in English and will consist of a take-home quiz, an on-line reflective journal undertaken as a blog during the tour, and a written opinion piece on return. Students must contact the Course Convenor for details of how to apply for the tour. Students must seek approval from the School of Humanities, Languages and Social Science to enroll in this limited spaces course. Approved students must also seek approval from the School of Humanities, Languages and Social Science to drop this course.
